Come join the County Commissioners and County staff for an open discussion regarding needed North County projects for the proposed 10 year renewal of Penny for Pinellas funding.
A very informative evening was held with information shared by Pasco County on their ongoing and planned development in Southwest Pasco, The Florida Department of Transportation on planned improvements and timing to US 19 and capacity planning for Alt 19, Pinellas County on their planned road and sidewalk improvements/repairs and Forward Pinellas on regional transportation needs, plans and initiatives.

Forum was held at East Lake Woodlands and the County overviewed the history of the Penny. Key points included:
Initially enacted in January, 1990
Referendum for next 10 year renewal is November, 2017 (for 2020-2029)
Expected to raise $2 Billion over the 10 year period from 2020
Funds must be spent on capital projects
The County pays cash as it goes for these capital projects
