Education Forum & Scholarship Awards

The rescheduled date for this forum is set for Monday, April 15th from 7:00 - 8:30 at the East Lake Library.  Please join our Superintendent, Dr. Michael Greg, and others for a discussion on the "State of the District".  CNCN will also award two $1,000 scholarships to area High School seniors at the beginning of this forum.

2019 CNCN Civil Service Student Scholarship :
 
The Council of North County Neighborhoods will award two $1,000 scholarships (one each) to a member of the 2019 graduating classes of Palm Harbor University and East Lake High Schools. 


To qualify, the graduating senior must: • Be a student of either East Lake High School or Palm Harbor University High School • Exhibited a dedication to civic service via volunteer work and community participation • Demonstrated high academic achievement (GPA/SAT/ACT) • Submit a one-page essay on the topic listed below 


**NOTE**:  Preference will be given to students who reside in one of our member communities of record as of March 31, 2019.  Communities wishing to join CNCN should contact Tim Lima (timlima@outlook.com) or Rob Moore (robm-cncn@outlook.com). 


The Essay topic for the 2019 scholarship is as follows:   


What public or private investments in the community would you like to see made in unincorporated northern Pinellas County in the coming years to make the area more “livable” for work and/or play?  Libraries?  Parks? Infrastructure? Transit?  Please explain what benefits will come from your idea, be they economic, emotional, etc. 


The deadline for application is March 31, 2019.  Winners will be notified prior to CNCN’s Education Forum on April 15, 2019 at which the winner’s presence will be requested.

*Note:  Children or grandchildren of CNCN’s Board of Directors are not eligible for a scholarship.  Awards are at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors of the Council of North County Neighborhoods.
